Rainbow Reef Resort is a small, idyllic, secluded resort with a private beach right on the Rainbow Reef itself. All major dive sites in the area are less than 10 minutes away. Bookings include three meals a day and use of non motorized watersports equipment.
The Rainbow Reef Resort is situated in a beautiful, secluded old coconut plantation on a remote peninsular of Vanua Levu Island in Fiji. The Rainbow Reef is a spectacular area for snorkeling, diving and kayaking and comes within a hundred feet of our private beach. As colorful as it is, inhabited by hundreds of species of captivating fish, the name rainbow actually refers to the frequent rainbows that form across the bay in the late afternoon as the sun sets.
We are totally self-contained in one of the most picturesque spots in Fiji. The resort takes an environmentally sensitive approach to operation; our buildings are all naturally ventilated, our water comes from an on-site well and we make use of solar power and a battery bank to limit the use of our back-up generators. The entire site lies along the beach and offers amazing views of the ocean and across the bay to nearby Taveuni Island. Our ground staff meticulously maintain the property so that it feels like walking through an ornamental park.

Room types

Our four bures (traditional Fijian-style accommodation) offer four different floor plans but all have an ocean view and veranda and are situated just steps from the beach. Each bure has an individual sun deck with loungers, wonderful private outdoor shower, an in-room refrigerator and are all situated to capture the views of our typically spectacular sunrises.

Two of the bures (named Orchid and Tiare) are specifically designed for couples and are on the most secluded side of the property. They are ideal for romantic getaways, honeymoons and anniversaries and have four post beds crafted from locally sourced timber.

The Frangipani bure is perfect for a family with small children that can sleep in their own special loft in the ceiling while the parents have a four post bed at ground level. There is a large family room looking out over the ocean which can also accommodate another single bed if needed for larger groups.

Our largest bure, Hibiscus, has a private room with a queen bed plus four single beds in a second room and can comfortably house a family of six or up to six adults. The main room has a dining area and a lounge area to relax in overlooking the ocean.

Lunch and dinner vary daily, but our Fijian chefs make always delicious, healthy Pacific Rim cuisine. Local fish, chicken and coconut are common, as are barbecues, salads, curries and a "Lovo". Sweet potato, cassava and other local vegetables are often used and our freshly made breads are heavenly.
For a romantic experience, meals can be brought to your room or served on our smaller beach, which would be yours exclusively for the evening.
All fruits, herbs and vegetables are organic and many are grown right here at the resort. Additives and preservatives are very uncommon in Fijian ingredients. We can happily cater to any dietary requirements.

Our Fijian staff can put on a traditional kava ceremony with beautiful singing and guitar playing and a chance to fully understand this very important part of their culture.

Our lovo nights are always popular. The meat is prepared in an earth oven and you are welcome to take part in the preparations. The meat is served as part of a Fijian feast in the evening in our ocean view dining area.

Meke dancing is also an important part of Fijian culture and our staff can perform traditional dances with explanations of their signficance and give you a chance to join in!
