Vatia Beach Eco Lodge is an eco-tourism gem on the Sun Coast, in northern Viti Levu; Fiji's main island
This boutique resort - which has been in operation since the 1970s - came under new ownership in April 2014 when a Spaniard who was living in Australia, left eveything behind to pursue his dream of running a sustainable lodge in Fiji.

With the help of the warm Fijian people, Vatia Beach Eco Lodge became a reallity and fast gained popularity with locals and tourists alike.

Vatia is situated on a stunning white sand beach on a secluded peninsula which because of its location, gets some of the best sunsets on the island!

We were deeply humbled to host two international observers (US & NZ) of the democratic elections in Fiji on September, 2014.

In June 2015, the US green building organization "Earthship" chose Vatia Beach Eco Lodge to demonstrate the building of a low-cost, disaster-proof building from natural and recycled materials.  You can see the completed structure on Vatia's second terrace.

Room types

We currently have 6 bures (Fijian style cabins) which sleep two guests.  A mattress can be added upon request to accommodate a third person in the room.  We also have a 6-bed dorm for larger groups.  We will soon be building five more bures to cater for more guests and friends.

You can choose to have your own private bathroom facilities or use the shared bathroom.

You can also pitch your own tent on our lawn - all our bures are just a stone's throw from the beach.

Our activities

There's lots to do while you wait for sundowners on the beach.  Jump in a kayak and paddle to the mysterious Nukuvuvo Island and explore its deep cerulean channels and corals teeming with fish life, challenge staff and other guests to a volleyball game - (the losing team pays for drinks), trek to the next beach, bike ride the near-empty roads to scenic Vatia Point, get lost in the hubbub of Ba Town market or relax in the shade of a mango tree with a good book.

Fiji's ecclectic mix of cultures, people and food makes dining a delightful experience!  Each day, our chef Donnie, treats our guests to affordable and yummy cuisine that is a delicious fusion of traditional Fijian meat and fish dishes, spicy Indian curries and typical western style dishes.

Be sure to order the French toast for breakfast - its out of this world!

Vatia Beach has its own pick up service from Nadi, Nadi Airport, Lautoka, Ba or Tavua so you do not have to take public transport.

However, if you are in for a bit of sightseeing and adventure, public transport is pretty reliable in Fiji. To reach Vatia from Nadi Airport, catch the bus from the International Departures area and travel to Ba Town. You can also catch the bus to Lautoka, the next city over, where you can hop onto another bus which will take you to Ba.

Give us a call before you reach Ba Town and we'll have someone meet you there to bring you to the lodge.
