A year of Happiness
A recent Gallup International Survey showed that Fiji was the happiest country in the world. However, the survey also showed that happiness was in decline elsewhere, even at a time when we have more wealth than ever and the world’s annual rich lists showcase so many Billionaires.
This gave us the idea to share some of Fiji’s abundant happiness with the rest of the world.
On the International Day of Happiness, 20 March 2019, we released a rich list of a different kind. A list of people who were truly rich. Rich in happiness. Bulanaires, not billionaires.
Our inaugural list was convened by wellness and happiness authorities Professor Lea Waters and Arianna Huffington and featured pro-surfer, Kelly Slater and international TV personality, Jeff Probst, alongside some of our incredible tourism industry members from Fiji.
The program resonated strongly across our international markets, generating more than 39 million engagements to-date. That’s 39 million likes, comments and shares of our Bulanaire videos.
Bulanaires will be back in 2020, and for the next iteration we are focused on expanding the program across the tourism sector in Fiji and are inviting every operator to submit their own Bulanaire to join our community.
We want to further celebrate the true heroes of Fiji’s tourism industry – Fiji’s frontliners.
Everyday, it’s their authentic Fijian hospitality that puts a smile on every visitor’s face and we want to nurture and promote the role they play in making Fiji the place where happiness finds you.
We believe the Bulanaires program provides a unique, ownable position for Fiji that represents the true character of the country and differentiates us from other island destinations.
The Bulanaires program also gives us an authentic way to meaningfully contribute to the global conversation around happiness and be world renown for it.
We hope it will inspire more people to visit Fiji to experience the Bula spirit for themselves.
And ultimately, to make the world a happier place.
We’re excited for this next phase of the Bulanaires programme and are pleased to invite you to join us on the journey.
