The beauty of the Coral Coast lies in little historic gems like the Tavuni Hill Fort located in the upper Sigatoka Valley, on a steep 90-metre limestone ridge.

Built in the 18th century by Tongan chief Maile Latumai, the site is only four kilometres east of Sigatoka town and features sacred grave sites, terraces for barricade fencing, ceremonial ground and a vatu ni bokola (head-chopping stone).

There are many examples of fortification sites around Fiji but the Tavuni Hill Fort is one of the most accessible and has magnificent views over the Sigatoka Valley.
