While some of the inner islands in the Lomaiviti Group are well-developed for tourism, others provide a glimpse of pure, untouched Fiji, and they all offer enchanting island experiences.

The pristine marine environment of the Lomaiviti Group makes diving, snorkelling and yachting popular activities, but with booming fish stocks, the islands have earned the reputation of being the ‘big fish’ capital of Fiji. Try your hand off the barrier reefs at Gau, Batiki and Nairai and you may be lucky enough to hook a whopper – Trevally are known to grow up to 50kg.
To get a taste of authentic Fiji, there are tours available through some of the local villages but you can’t go past a visit to Levuka to experience the rich and colourful history of colonial Fiji.

Getting to the Lomaiviti Group
Travel between the islands of the Lomaiviti Group is, of course, by boat, but on Ovalau Island, there is a taxi service and also a shuttle that travels between Levuka and Bureta.
